Who are We?The Mid-Illini Jeep Club (MIJC) is a local Jeep enthusiasts club. Most of our members live and work in the Peoria, Illinois area, although we have members who live outside the tri-county area. We are a "Jeeps Only" club which promotes family-oriented four-wheeling. Each MIJC member is committed to promoting the safe and responsible use of off-road vehicles. In addition to MIJC rules, we abide by all Federal, State, and Local Laws as they relate to our sport. The use of safety-restraint systems is required at all club events. The use of drugs or alcohol on any trail run at any time is strictly prohibited. To be a member of our club you just need to have an interest in Jeeps. For club activities we do limit the vehicles to just Jeeps. Most members do have other makes of 4WD vehicles, so we are not 'Jeep Bigots'. Currently, the club members range in age from young to mature, and include singles, families, women and men. In 2007 we had 50+ members. Members' Jeep vehicles include a wide range of models, including CJ2A, M38, CJ5, CJ7, CJ8, YJ, TJ, J4000, J10, Wagoneer, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee. Members' Jeeps go from pure stock to significant modifications. We have a lot of diversity of vehicles, but with one common thread, they are all "Jeeps". What Do We Do?In 2006, club members and their families went on off-road trips to the Badlands at Attica, Indiana, Rockport Off-Road Park, Tellico, North Carolina and the Land Between the Lakes (LBL) in Kentucky. We have an events calendar, with several off road trips scheduled throughout the year. Other events include a club picnic, hog roast and summer cruise-ins at local establishments in the area. The off-road trips do not require 'rock crawler' equipment. We have enough experience and equipment to get a club member's Jeep through or around an obstacle. For the more adventuresome, the trips to the Badlands and LBL will satisfy your need for mud, hills, rocks, water and sand. Club AffiliationOur club is affiliated with the Illinois Four Wheel Drive Association (ILFWDA). The ILFWDA is a statewide organization of clubs, associations, and individuals dedicated to activism, awareness, enjoyment and promotion of responsible off-highway activities in Illinois. The ILFWDA was formed in 1998 to coordinate the different activities of involved four wheelers and provide a unified voice for them in Illinois. Membership in ILFWDA as of February 2003 included twenty-one Illinois based clubs, which represents a significant number of families and individuals. Like many other off-roaders living here, we would really like to have a place in Illinois where we could go and have fun with our Jeeps. MIJC and ILFWDA are comprised of many individuals and families who share the same interest in off-road recreation. For more information on ILFWDA the web site address is http://www.ilfwda.org When do we meet?We meet either the first Saturday of every month at Goodfella's Pizza & Pub in Pekin, Illinois, or during scheduled off-road trips during the spring, summer, and fall. The club newsletter provides members with information about the club events. We have an annual dinner / meeting in January to elect new officers and recap the adventures of the previous year. We also have an annual June picnic in addition to the other club activities. How to join?Membership dues are $30.00 per year, single or family. If you have any questions about joining MIJC please contact us. We look forward to having you join the Mid-Illini Jeepers Club |
