Rockport July 16th

Post by don bevfoden »

Just checking to see who might be planning to go to Rockport on July 16th. This will be the first opportunity for me to try out my "bigger" axles and gears. Tall dog took a bite out of me last time and I'm looking to give that trail some obedience training!

Yes Donnie Rockport has not been nice to you. Lets see the first time you ended up parking the Jeep, I think you were having problems with your clutch linkage. The second time you laid your Jeep on its side and the last time you twisted your rear end housing but at least you did finish the day out! Of course that was the end of the trail!

The first time was with my brown 79' cj7. It was a quadra trac, with an Automatic Tranny. I believe it had something wrong with one of the axle shafts and didn't want to let it put me out altogether, as in a quadra trac system, when one goes, it all goes.

I like rockport more and more, everytime a go. This time I'll have a few upgrades to tackle TopDog! dana 44 front, dana 60 rear, 5:13 gears, 3/4 lift in the front, front axle moved forward some,38.5 x14.5 swampers--if they fit. A big toolbox in the back of the jeep for spare parts. and better clamps on my coil wires so when I'm egged on to go through a big mud hole my engine won't die.

Hope to see alot of you there, its close for most of you, and a really good time.

I also plan on going. I might leave Friday and get a room so I will be at the park by 8:30 or so. I plan on wheeling both Saturday and Sunday as some others are coming down on Sunday. Should be a good time. I hope to see a lot of people there?

Yes the rear axle is all fixed up. It was the passenger side rear axle shaft broke in half. not only that but when it broke it messed up the carrier also. So thanks to Bob and his parts and Jon and his work it is all fixed up and ready to go again.

I think I'll be going Friday after work and leaving Sunday afternoon, camping both nights. I have some leftover hot dogs and hamburgers from the picnic; does that sound good for everyone on Saturday night? Perhaps if everyone kicked in a few bucks we could get some chips or stuff to go with them.

If you haven't already, please post here or e-mail me if you're coming to Rockport and how many people you'll have with you. I need to know how much food to bring for Saturday night.

oops, thought I was finally gonna get to Rockport. But I found a truck I can't pass up, and it's in Wyoming (the state unfortunately, not the small town nw of Peoria). So I'll be on a little road trip this weekend. Have fun and be safe... Fraser

We are in! The Jeep made it through Tellico without any real damage. We are planning on leaving Fri after Sally gets home from work. I think somewhere around 4:30 or so. See you there! Oh is everyone camping at the usual campground? (Great River Campground in Pleasant Hill)
